Mark D. Riley, M.Ed.

Welcome to my blog. I write about my passions which are Technology Education, Gardening, and Cooking.

I am the Instructional Technology Coordinator for the College of Health Sciences and Professions at Ohio University. I have a Master’s Degree in Computer Education and Technology and I’m currently working on my Ph.D. in Instructional Technology. I have a passion and enthusiasm for teaching and learning with technology and I regularly conduct classroom technology workshops with faculty.

I have also taught Cyber Safety with Kids on Campus, a community outreach program serving at-risk youth in Southeast Ohio. In addition, I’ve started an afterschool Lego Robotics program for middle school students, conducted Lego Robotics workshops at the Athens County Public Library, and I’ve coached in the FIRST Lego League robotics competition.

  • I was born on New Years Day.
  • I was born at Clark Air Base in The Philippines.
  • I consider Athens, Ohio my hometown.
  • I also have a place I call home in Warey, Philippines.
  • I graduated from Alexander High School.
  • I earned my Bachelors and Masters degree from Ohio University.
  • My first computer was a Tandy TRS-80.
  • I can put together a working computer from spare and junk parts.
  • The first tech gadget that blew my mind was my Sony Discman.
  • I love to garden, grow tomatoes and peppers, and make my own salsa.
  • I’m an outdoorsy person who loves to hunt and fish, although I am not that good at either.
  • I like all kinds of music, but I really love the 80’s and 90’s.
  • I have a fear of heights.
  • My newest hobby is woodworking.
